Athens - Sigrou Avenue

The Singrou Avenue

With its 7 (5 + 2) lanes per traffic direction, Leoforos Singru is the widest avenue of the city. It is 5 kilometres long and the main link between the historical centre and the coast. It is perfectly straight without any traffic lights.

It is part of the great 'Olympic ring'. Some of the buildings along this road are interesting examples of modern and contemporary architecture; there are several hotels, some important private clinics, business premises and one of the vastest and most modern planetariums in the world. Another recent attraction is the so-called 'esplanada', a pedestrian tree-lined bridge that leads to Faliro Park on the coast.
