Despite its efficiency, this means of transport was stopped in the 60s, only to be re-opened in 2004 for the Olympics and is now a predominant part of the daily life of the inhabitants. The two new lines are only the beginning of a much bigger project. The Athens tram was built in Italy and based on Pininfarina designs; it’s one of the most modern in Europe, both fast and silent. Nowadays it links the city centre with its 20 km of coastline. [i]
